Yeast with and without air

Topic: Glycolysis & fermentation

Two flasks contain the same mass of a yeast strain that respires glucose completely whenever O₂ is available. Both get the same glucose medium at 30 °C. Flask 1 is flushed with nitrogen and sealed; flask 2 has air bubbled through it. Over one hour the student measures glucose used, ethanol made, CO₂ released and O₂ taken up.
